BEST NEW WEDDING SITE

PORTLAND

Exchange Ballroom and Cascade Rooftop

Claim to fame: An incredible backdrop of the Portland city skyline.

Take it from a pro: “All brides and grooms should do three things before they do anything else,” says Kurt Beadell, creative director. “Once you are engaged, create a budget (it will change, but start one), find a venue and create a guest list with both sets of parents.”

STATEWIDE

Maysara Winery (McMinnville)

Claim to fame: Stone and wood accents contribute to a majestic feel.

Take it from a pro: “One piece of advice I would give is to know your venue and pick lighting and decorations that work with it,” says events manager Hanna Momtazi. “Also, have a backup plan for your ceremony and reception. With living in Oregon, it’s difficult to know exactly what the weather is going to be like. If you do this ahead of time, then you won’t be upset about last-minute changes.”

BEST OREGON DESTINATION WEDDING SITE

PORTLAND

The Oregon Golf Club

Claim to fame: Gorgeous views of the Cascade Mountains, the Oregon Golf Club’s award-winning rose garden and the golf course.

Take it from a pro: “We love seeing both the bride and groom have a signature cocktail! This way, if your guests don’t want a fruity drink, they can opt for the other one,” says Nicole Bergin, private event sales director.

STATEWIDE

Youngberg Hill Vineyard and Inn (McMinnville)

Claim to fame: An all-in-one experience, with breathtaking scenery, award-winning wine and the well-appointed inn.

Take it from a pro: “Think twice before having a wedding at home to save money,” says owner Nicolette Bailey. “There are often unexpected problems that rarely exist with reception locations who have managed all the details.”
