DIY Day: Bridal Veil, Oregon!
Blogs
One of the best things about interning for Oregon Bride is all the great ideas I get to hear about on a regular basis. This idea comes straight from a real wedding that will be featured in our Fall/Winter 2010 issue that hits the stands this July!

Ever heard of Bridal Veil, Oregon? Neither had I until I talked to a local engaged couple that took a romantic road trip to the Columbia River Gorge and stopped in Bridal Veil, in the beautiful Multnomah County. Bridal Veil was the hub of major logging operation in the 1880s, but today, it is barely more than a ghost town. However, there are still three places of interest in Bridal Veil: the cemetery, the church, and the post office.

Though often threatened with foreclosure, it is the wedding industry that keeps the Bridal Veil Post Office afloat. According to Wikipedia, "One reason Bridal Veil still exists is its highly sought after postmark. Letters that come through Bridal Veil have their stamps canceled with a Bridal Veil postmark. Thus, thousands of brides bring their wedding invitations through Bridal Veil. During the spring and summer, the height of wedding season, the post office is filled with thousands of wedding invitations awaiting that special postmark."

With wedding invitations, every little detail counts, and if you have the time this Memorial Day Weekend, a road trip to the cozy town could be just what your wedding invitations need to make them extra special!
