Beachy Vintage Wedding at Haystack Rock

Wednesday, September 3 2014

My favorite thing about the wedding world is the amount of palpable joy that crosses my desk each day. When I first saw Erica and Tyler Keegan’s wedding photos, I was immediately struck by the visceral quality of the joy in these images. In the tender snapshots of the newlyweds with their two children, Hudson and Nyah, sandwiched between, these two radiate happiness. Charming details like the hysterical alcohol sign (below), kept the elegantly muted decor, from all-white table bouquets to the rustic streamer-adorned wooden arbor, from taking itself too seriously. Oregon’s fabled Haystack Rock at Cannon Beach was the perfect setting for this easygoing duo’s charming and relaxed nuptials. Plus, let’s be honest—any bride who earnestly refers to the “perfect” rain on her wedding day definitely deserves the title of Oregon bride! Keep scrolling to see what Erica had to say about her big day.

From the bride:

"Our wedding day was a dream, literally. From the moment I woke up to when I went to bed. I was relaxed and enjoyed every second. It rained that day. On and off all day long. It honestly was as if the God’s were on our side that day – it was all planned out. It rained softly while we were getting ready, it was peaceful. I like to think it was calming, but I had my moments of panicking – fear of getting married in the pouring rain on the beach in Oregon, not exactly what I had in mind for my big day. As we were taking photos outside at the reception area prior to the wedding, we had a nice lull from the showers. They soon picked up which forced us back to the hotel. I hung out for a while with my parents and sisters in the hotel room. I watched the rain and just prepared myself for the possibilities! It was nearing 5:00 pm, the time of our ceremony. We were walking down the stairs and it was literally dumping rain. We had umbrellas and were going for it – no turning back now! I kid you not, as we were lining up at the top of the stairs, the rain stopped in an instant, and it was beautiful! Completely amazing. The beach was empty, just our wedding guests and us. So peaceful and perfect. The lighting was incredible, slightly overcast and romantic."
