As Halloween approaches, my daily wardrobe goes from sunny colors to black almost overnight. Autumn is a time of mystery, of moody misty mornings and evenings warmed by a crackling fire. Maybe you can tell: I'm a fan of the drama that black creates, even for wedding attire. Of course, one cautionary tale comes from poor Sarah Jessica Parker, who she says she regrets wearing black to her 1997 wedding to Matthew Broderick. Maybe she was too ahead of her time: black gowns are a perfectly acceptable alternative to traditional white. Vera Wang's been including black in her collections for a few seasons now. I'm loving her bewitching "Josephine":

I'm also gaga over this gown by designer Zuhair Murad:

Or how about just going full glam on the big day? (Photo: El Pais)

What do you think? Is black the new white?
