Chantell & Dan's Downtown Portland Wedding

Chantell and Dan take a break in the rain to cross the South Park Blocks for a photo op at in the courtyard of the Portland Art Museum.

When a film buff and his vintage-inspired bride plan a wedding, expect the results to be cinematic. And like any film set, Chantell Richardson and Dan Halsted's wedding was not without its challenges. "It was all indoors on a gloomy, rainy February afternoon," recalls photographer Beth Dixson. "But I think considering, the photos turned out pretty good."

Even their journey to the altar was filled with moments right out of a rom-com: It was love at first sight when the two Portlanders met at a film premiere after-party at the Aalto Lounge on SE Belmont. On their third anniversary, Dan proposed (on bended knee, of course!) at the Washington Park Rose Garden. (Cue applause.)

Chantall's gown was custom designed and created by one of her sisters.

The couple took their vows at the recently renovated Old Church in
Downtown Portland but utilized the beauty of the South Park Blocks for
photo ops, including the scupture courtyard at the Portland Art Museum.

Dan, who is also the film programmer at the historic Hollywood Theatre in Portland's Hollywood District, clearly takes his dancing moves from Fred Astaire.

JaCiva's took their design cue from the couple's love of movies with this cake complete with an unfurling film reel and look-alike dolls for the topper.

After their wedding, Chantell and Dan vacationed in Kauai before returning to Portland and their newly purchased house.
