A New Kind of Intimate: A Ceremony Site Worth Sharing

A few weeks ago the Oregon Bride team pounced on an opportunity to see the special features of the RiverPlace Hotel in downtown Portland. Located right on the slow moving Willamette River -- yachts, quaint coffeeshops, and the waterfront park circle the RiverPlace like a backyard. As if it could get any better -- I was shown RiverPlace Hotel's quaint ceremony site: a wooden patio holding up to 150 persons looking right over the Willamette onto east Portland.

Location is this venue's bestfriend. As accomindating as ever, The RiverPlace Hotel is joined with Three Degrees Restaurant, a fine dining experience overlooking the Willamette River. The Executive Chef, AJ Voytko, spoiled us to a sampling of his wedding appetizers fit for a brunch wedding. Toasted waffles in whipped lemon curd, mini assorted quiches, a smoked salmon and caper bite, and mini stacked pancakes skewered with fresh local strawberries -- I can't imagine a more delicious wedding menu. As I shook hands with the talented Voytko, he handed me a mason jar full of homemade strawberry jam, a favor option for brides marrying at The RiverPlace.

The RiverPlace Hotel offers an array of activites to their guests. Bike rides, yoga nights, a nightly wine and lemonade bar, kites, picnic baskets, kayak lessons and more -- nothing shares the entertainment of Portland, OR like outdoor community.

Shed your pre-wedding jitters with a wedding party picnic on the Waterfront Park's lawn, and end the night with a bridesmaid's yoga session while the grooms kayak down the river. Nothing seems more quaint, and nothing could feel more relaxing than spending quailty time near friends and family on the days approaching your wedding.

After the sun sets on the bride and groom's wedding night, The Grand Suite overlooking the waterfront and Willamette River is the perfect cool-down. Light the wood burning fireplace, and let the water fill your oversized jaccuzi tub as you look onto the many Portland bridges and soak in your new commitment.
