When planning this styled shoot at Tendue in Portland, Rebecca Foster, founder and design director of Indigo Event Design, envisioned something bright and bold, drawing inspiration from South Asian and Mediterranean cultures for colors like saffron orange, marigold yellow and indigo. “We wanted couples to feel emboldened to go beyond shades of blush and white, to embrace more rich, vibrant hues,” says Foster. “The sky is the limit when it comes to wedding colors—every couple is unique, and we believe that their wedding color scheme should uniquely represent them.”

In a showcase of texture and movement, Mylyn Wood of Mylyn Wood Photography captures strong angles and colors playing against softer elements, such as organic florals, naturally torn fabric accents and linen paper invitations. For Foster, this contrast was a realization of modern femininity and the balance between being fierce and fluid.

Hand-lettered gold calligraphy and leaf detail shine against a rich navy and white invitation suite, for which a mix of serif and script fonts creates beautiful balance. Designed by Letters and Dust in Portland.

Buttery yellow Italian meringue buttercream covers a vibrant asymmetrical red velvet cake with cream cheese filling. Red-orange floral accents add interest to the cake’s smooth finish. Constructed by Dream Cakes in Portland.

Custom menu cards introduce softness while creating a warm welcome for guests. Crafted on watercolor-dyed cotton rag paper with deckled edges by Letters and Dust in Portland.

Katherine Gidlow brought her own spin to the bridal bouquet. “I wanted the bridal bouquet to fit seamlessly within the theme, yet be just slightly unique,” she notes. “I chose fewer punchy focal points so it would be light and airy.” Blue Floral Company in Portland.

Tendue’s intricate floor infuses distinct character and charm into the venue. When originally creating the space, owners Jacob and Danielle used their design savvy to draw detail that resembled tile and incorporated Moroccan flair.

In a joyful celebration of juxtaposing textures and colors, this elevated tablescape incorporates exposed wood, velvet, cascading florals and gold accents—all inspired by the vibrant, dense color palettes of Morocco and India. Florals by Blue Floral Company and rentals from Vintage Meets Modern in Milwaukie.
