What type/style of flowers do you work with most?
One of the best things about being a florist in Portland is our access to seasonal product that is grown by local flower farmers. It makes my job so much more interesting! Some examples are helleborus in late winter, flowering branches in early Spring, peonies in May, dahlias in the summer and loads of different textural foliage in the fall.
How would you describe your style?
Classic, romantic and garden inspired. When it comes to weddings in particular I want to create flowers and décor that will stand the test of time while still feeling current and on trend without being trendy.
Are you available to pin corsages and boutonnieres at the site?
Yes, last year we calculated we pinned on about 1500. ;)
Do you do bouquet preservation? If so, what is your cost?
No. I will happily refer people to businesses that will. I always recommend that you make sure to hire a quality photographer who you know will capture the bouquet beautifully. If you want to save a literal piece of the bouquet then we’ll often include special ribbon or jewelry onto the handle that you can save. Similarly, pressing a few flowers can be really lovely.
How long have you been working with flowers?
14 years. December 2015 will mark Blüm’s 10 year anniversary.
Are you available to deliver items from my ceremony to the reception?
What type of rental items do you have?
We have vases, pedestals, lanterns and candles in our own collection to rent. In addition, we regularly work with local, and out of state, rental companies to subcontract linens, chairs, chargers, and other décor items for our clients so that we are sure to have a cohesive look.
Are there any extra services you provide?
I love helping clients with styling whether that is simply making sure that the tables are finished or working on a grander scale helping to create a vision for the whole event.
Is there anything else you would like me to know?
Working with flowers is one of the great joys of my life and getting to be a part of so many wedding days one of the great honors. I feel so fortunate to do this every day!
