Quirky & Colorful Ballroom-Dance Inspired Creswell, Oregon Wedding

Fall/Winter 2013

How They Met: Two years after meeting at a party, Jake, 36, ran into a mutual friend and asked for Alicia’s, 34, number. He called her that day and arranged a date at Lucky Noodle restaurant in Eugene. How He Proposed: Jake popped the question while dining by candlelight at the same eatery where the couple spent their first date, after nine years of courtship. How They Wed: Inspired by a favorite film, “Strictly Ballroom,” the bridesmaids and groomsmen were paired up with matching bouquets and boutineers in vibrant colors, and each couple choreographed and performed a dance number before the newlyweds’ first dance. In lieu of a traditional cake, the bride and groom cut a giant PB&J-flavored cupcake while guests dined on a menu crafted by Jake’s mother, a Food Network award-winning cook. Guests snapped photo-booth filmstrips and used them to create unique scrapbook-style entries in the guestbook. How They Live Happily Ever After: Mini-moons to Salishan Golf Resort and Bend were the precursors to a planned getaway to Italy in October 2013. Jake owns a contracting business, and Alicia is a customer service supervisor in Eugene, where they live with their dogs, Gusgus and Grissom.
