Alicia & CJ

March 12, 2010 at the Hotel Vintage Plaza Wine Cellar, Portland

How They Met: One silly night at the St. James Infirmary Bar and Grill in Mountain View, California, a kitschy destination beneath a 30-foot statue of Wonder Woman. Fifteen years later, the same sense of whimsical fun remains a key element of their relationship. (Though, sadly, the meeting spot didn’t last as long—it was destroyed in a fire in 1998.)

How He Proposed: Out of the blue, CJ suggested a trip downtown. After wandering around for some time, he finally admitted he was taking Alicia ring shopping.

How They Wed: Wanting a simple, intimate wedding with just close friends and family, CJ and Alicia decided on a ceremony and reception in the cozy and elegant Wine Cellar at downtown Portland’s Hotel Vintage Plaza. Surrounded by Oregon wines, rich wood and arrangements from Starflower, the couple exchanged vows flanked by Alicia’s grown children. A delicious dinner from Pazzo Ristorante was followed by the hit of the reception: a traditional French croquembouche, made of caramelized Grand Marnier cream puffs, from Pix Patisserie.

How They Live Happily Ever After: After making it official, the couple is mulling over honeymoon possibilities. Alicia works for Bank of America and CJ for Intel; they live in Southeast Portland.
