Amy & Michelle
How They Met: At a pediatric community health clinic where Amy was a social worker and Michelle was a nurse practitioner student. Amy helped get her a job—and a date.
How Michelle Proposed: Drawing on Amy’s love of Pinot noir and their mutual hobby of letterboxing, a kind of scavenger hunt with clues made from hand-carved stamps, Michelle set up a search at Stoller Vineyards for their fifth anniversary. The first and only clue: a stamp that Michelle carved of the diamond ring in an open box. When Amy found it, Michelle proposed.
How They Wed: Along the Sandy River, the site of many adventures for the couple, with about 100 guests. The avid travelers named tables after their favorite destinations and made wine charms from vintage maps. Michelle created the cake stand out of vintage suitcases and antique cameras, and guests went home with handmade luggage tags stamped with dahlias. A train even rumbled by during their outdoor ceremony, and the fall light glowed throughout cocktail hour and delicious dinner catered by Equinox.
How They Live Happily Ever After: The lovebirds immediately hopped a plane to Kauai for a quiet cliff-top honeymoon. Back home in Northeast Portland, Amy is a crisis mental health counselor and Michelle is in school to become a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
