Danielle & Dane

Sept. 10, 2011 at McMenamins Sand Trap in Gearhart

How They Met: Flirting on MySpace led to some serious business. Six months after meeting online in 2007, Danielle was moving to Portland to join Dane. How He Proposed: Although his plans were to wait until a special family vacation in Florida, Dane just couldn’t hold in his excitement that long. On a warm July day in 2010, Dane knelt down on one knee in their living room, taking Danielle by surprise. How They Wed: Their wedding color palette bounced from yellow to gray to coral. Both avid readers, they incorporated a prominent book theme throughout the day, with stacks of favorite novels punctuating the scene and classic covers from publisher Penguin doubled as table numbers. Danielle made her own brooch bouquet and crafted the groomsmen’s boutonnières from book pages. But even the best-laid plans aren’t predictable—when the rest of the wedding flowers wilted overnight, the couple’s mothers and Dane’s aunt saved the day by making new arrangements from fresh-picked garden flowers. How They Live Happily Ever After: After a weeklong staycation at home to rest from the wedding craziness, the relaxed newlyweds jetted to Los Cabos, Mexico for a properly tropical honeymoon. Dane, who works at Standard TV & Appliance, and Danielle, who does research at The Oregon Clinic, live in Southeast Portland with their two dogs.
