Kacie & Todd

July 11, 2010 at Mt. Hood Organic Farms in Mount Hood

How They Met: Kacie had an unrequited crush on Todd in junior high for three years. Just as she was giving up hope, he finally came to his senses in 2000. How He Proposed: The July 2009 romantic scavenger hunt began on the beach near Florence, where a trail of flowers led to a picnic of Kacie’s favorite foods. But no proposal—yet. The next day, on a hike to Sahalie Falls in Sisters, Kacie found another trail of roses; picking them up, she arrived at the falls with a full bouquet to find a kneeling Todd waiting to propose. Next to the river, he gave her gifts he’d been collecting—many of them craft materials to help Kacie create their dream wedding. How They Wed: The mountainside garden party was set in delicate shades of peach and chartreuse, and came together with lots of those DIY projects—hanging poms, tree-stump cake stands, nests holding table assignments—along with antique teacups, vintage floral tablecloths, a scrapbooking table and croquet. The 35 guests got their fill of a dinner focused on local purveyors and a dessert buffet of cookies, cakes and donuts. How They Live Happily Ever After: After getting goofy on their Disney World honeymoon, Kacie, a preschool teacher, and Todd, a software developer, returned home to Springfield where they lovingly tend an organic garden and a few fruit trees.
