Kristy & Chase

Dec. 31, 2011 at Timberline Lodge in Government Camp

How They Met: After meeting at a New Year’s Eve party in 2004, Kristy and Chase kept in touch, despite living in different areas of the country: Kristy in Wisconsin and Chase in Alabama. Two years later, they ran into each other in Wisconsin, and realized they were meant to be. How He Proposed: In 2009, Chase took Kristy on a romantic cruise to the Bahamas, where he handed her a birthday present, got down on one knee, and asked Kristy to marry him as she opened the box. How They Wed: The couple chose to have a small ceremony with no guests besides the photographer, officiant, and fellow skiers coming down Mount Hood. It was the snowiest day in four years on the mountain, but even foul weather couldn’t dampen the spirit of the couple who took their vows wearing classic wedding attire (a satin gown for her and a black tuxedo for him) before changing into ski boots for a ride on the ski lift. Later, the couple enjoyed Timberline’s annual New Year’s Eve party along with other hotel guests for an evening of classic rock, salmon, and raspberry-filled vanilla cake for dessert. A midnight balloon drop capped off a memorable year. How They Live Happily Ever After: A Hawaiian getaway this summer is in the works after the couple enjoyed a post-wedding mini-moon skiing in Washington. In the meantime, Chase works in construction and Kristy works in childcare in Portland.
