Laura & Brad

July 10, 2010 at Highland Meadows Ranch in Mosier

How They Met: Only five days after joining in March 2007, Brad Whiting invited Laura McWilliam to go mountain biking in Hood River and they were immediately smitten. How He Proposed: During a surprise trip to Las Vegas at the end of 2009, while on a hike near the Colorado River, Brad pulled out the ring, a 110-year-old family heirloom, and proposed. How They Wed: The active adventurers chose to have a rustic celebration that exemplified their Western lifestyle for all their out-of-town family and friends. On the private 1,400-acre ranch, Laura and Brad were married outside in front of an Old West chapel-style gazebo filled with hanging sheet music. The reception was held in the restored 1910 barn, where Laura and Brad shared a first dance and first ride on the mechanical bull—quite a hit with the 105 guests. Pendleton Whiskey cocktails slung from the “saloon” kept the party going; many stayed overnight and enjoyed a hearty cowboy breakfast in the morning. How They Live Happily Ever After: The happy couple lives in Hood River, where Brad works at Hood River Distillers and Laura is a Physician Assistant in The Dalles. They’re planning a springtime honeymoon, but can’t wait to get back to their own outdoor paradise for the summer.
