Reegan & David
Real Weddings
How They Met: Floating on the Willamette River watching the 2008 Red Bull Flugtag on a friend’s boat. David asked his favorite opening question: “What are your top five bands?” He wowed Reegan on their first date to a driving range by making a playlist of her answers.
How He Proposed: David’s plan to propose at a Dave Matthews Band concert (one of her faves) a year later was foiled when Reegan had to work all weekend. So he invited her to the Hotel Deluxe, where she walked into the room to find the concert DVD on the TV and David on bended knee.
How They Wed: Wanting to create the “ultimate experience” for their 315 guests, the music-loving duo planned a rock ‘n roll reception after their traditional Catholic ceremony. Custom cocktails were named after Rolling Stones songs and the newlyweds made their entrance to “Start Me Up.” A live band—Pressure Point Band—and an open bar were top priorities to have “the best party we’ve ever thrown,” says Reegan. The highlight came with the opening chords of “Sweet Child of Mine,” when they passed out 24 inflatable guitars and the whole wedding party rocked along—and even crowd-surfed the bride and groom! With all the guests staying upstairs at the Governor, the “raging party” continued into the wee hours before brunch the next morning.
How They Live Happily Ever After: The busy couple—she’s the chief operating officer at a Portland hedge fund and he oversees vendor management at Nike—spent two nights at The Allison Inn in Newberg and finally took a full-fledged honeymoon to Los Cabos this past April. They live in the Pearl District and are excitedly planning another great party—his brother’s wedding.
