Suzy & Matt

Suzy became intrigued by Matt, a guitar player, after watching his solo acoustic show at a mutual friend’s party—and couldn’t say no when he asked her for a date. A few dates later, after catching a show at Tube in Portland’s Old Town, the two chatted until 3 a.m. on Matt’s balcony, taking in the nighttime cityscape of Portland. That was it: the relationship was off and running. In September 2008, the two embarked on a hike near Mt. St. Helens, which ended at a stunning waterfall where Matt proposed to Suzy, the both of them standing barefoot in the shallow and pebbly water near the falls. After a simple courthouse ceremony and a reception for the family at the Ace Hotel, Matt and Suzy launched directly into married life, sans a honeymoon—but the couple does plan to take a walk through Laurelhurst Park on their one-year anniversary! Currently, Suzy and Matt live in Northeast Portland, where Matt is a full-time engineering student and Suzy works as a java supervisor for Whole Foods Market, making and selling jewelry on the side.
