With the House on Metolius providing a striking mid-century modern setting, The Indigo Bride created a design melding the beauty of Morocco with the hues of the high desert. The team drew inspiration from the beauty of Moroccan tiles, focusing on the intricate patterns and rich textures. “We were instantly drawn to their rich visual appeal and wanted to incorporate their essence into our design,” explains Alisha Reicks-Sturgill of The Indigo Bride. The rugged beauty of Oregon’s high desert landscape was complemented by authentic, earthy hues and sunset-inspired shades, which enhanced the vitality and exotic allure of the design. The team also focused on creating an authentic, warm and inviting atmosphere. Says Reicks-Sturgill, “In a world where minimalist aesthetics have been dominating, we sought to break away from the trend and embrace a design that exuded character and personality.”

Bold details include brightly hued spice dishes, snake napkin rings and candleholders. The beauty of Oregon is embraced with the use of locally grown blooms. The florals are a mix of dusky desert tones that harmonize with the landscape. Overlooking the Metolius River, the tablescape features centerpieces containing native rabbitbrush from central Oregon’s high desert. Springing from the rabbitbrush are fresh ranunculus, geum, tulips and pansies.

Our AIM was to move away from the prevailing MINIMALIST look and create a design that celebrated the richness and DIVERSITY of Morocco while EMBRACING the natural beauty of central Oregon.

The ceremony installation was guided by inspiration from MIDDLE EASTERN and South Asian wedding ceremonies, acknowledging and HONORING the pieces of cultural TRADITIONS that can be embodied in the design of a wedding celebration, each union UNIQUE.

Oregon-grown tulips and dried lacecap hydrangea are bound together with silk gossamer ribbon to create a stunning bouquet. Moroccan tiles served as the guiding light for every element of the shoot, including the invitation suite.

Texture plays an essential role in the escort card display, with its spray of florals rooted in native rabbitbrush and accented by splashes of bright blooms. Tassels add movement to the tile-shaped escort cards.

All the design elements—textures, patterns and color—are featured in the lounge area, which is anchored by sunset-hued furniture. Bright orange blooms in bud vases and hanging Moroccan lanterns contribute to the atmosphere, and a cowhide rug calls to mind the high desert. The cake exudes vitality with bright colors and a floral pattern gracing its tiers.

We were inspired by EARTHY hues and warm, sun-kissed shades... by incorporating these colors, we were able to INFUSE the shoot with a sense of warmth and AUTHENTICITY.
