Lindsay and David went through the struggle familiar to anyone planning an outdoor wedding: the forecast threatened rain, and they had to decide on a backup plan. The couple grew up together as family friends, and they share a deep love of the outdoors. With that in mind, they set up a tent for their backyard reception, but opted to keep their ceremony in the open. They ended up saying their vows in the pouring rain, and most of their guests chose to forego umbrellas as well. Following the ceremony, Lindsay and David ran inside to blow dry one another's clothes.

The bride's family owns Quail Creek Ranch: a Christmas tree farm that has been the site of family memories for generations. Lindsay and David, having attended many weddings over the years, wanted their day to feel less structured and more personalized. They hosted a family-style dinner, followed by a night of dancing to the music of Slicker Country Band. To close out the night, the couple roasted marshmallows and sausages over the fire with their closest friends.
