Wedding Colors: Something Cornflower Blue
This season’s perfect blue has a slightly vintage feel and should be familiar to anyone who knows their way around a Crayola box as cornflower blue. For Eugene pharmacists Ivy Nguyen and Brian Ikeda, finding just the right shade of blue for their vineyard wedding at Oregon City’s Villa Catalana Cellars proved elusive. After scouring local retail and décor shops, they found the perfect shade of blue for the bridal party’s gowns and the bride’s shoes at Nordstrom and on wedding decor at Target. “I didn’t want the wedding to be too much glitz or glam, but more laid back,” Ivy says. “I felt it made our wedding look one with nature.”
Portland couple Tracy Francis and Luciano Crossa-Neil also chose a vintage cornflower and yellow palette for their secret garden wedding at the bride’s childhood home in Tigard. Traces of blue were found in her vintage accessories and more particularly, in Tracy’s vintage floral dress sash that she found at Portland’s Brides for a Cause. “We wanted everything to be natural and blend with the scenery without pulling focus,” recalls Tracy.
