Family Matters: A Beautiful Shabby-Chic Wedding At The Barn Kestrel In West Linn
Ashley Packnett and Justin Friesen tied the knot in a late-morning ceremony surrounded by friends and family at the historic Barn Kestrel in West Linn. Although the couple chose a venue steeped in Oregon history, their ceremony was thoroughly modern. Bucking tradition, Justin’s grandfather acted as the ringbearer, and Ashley’s grandmother served as the flower girl. Continuing in nontraditional roles, Ashley’s brother was a “bridesman” and Justin’s dad officiated the wedding. “It made the ceremony that much more special and memorable for us to have them be a part of it,” says Ashley.
The bride and groom drew inspiration from shabby-chic decor and the French countryside. Ashley says she’s a big fan of brunch, antiques and old-fashioned gardens, and that’s where the event’s major influences came from. The wedding featured newspaper programs containing information about the wedding and reception.
