Cat Sewell of Sewell Sweets Artisan Cakes in Newberg created this dramatic three-tiered cake inspired by the night sky over Oregon.
The New Fruit Cake
Just a Dash Cakes of Beaverton approached every tier of this cake differently, starting with a hand-painted gold bottom tier, followed by a semi-naked middle tier and a gold-leaf-adorned crown. The design is finished with fresh berries, figs, cascading dusty pink roses, lisianthuses and purple wax flowers. Prices start at $6.50/serving.
Sewell Sweets of Newberg accessorized this four-tier cake with its trademark edible handcrafted sugar work of gum-paste lemons, blueberries, petite soft peach roses, hand-pulled white jasmine blossoms, buds and greenery. The blue cake tier is inspired by the sweet summery hue of fresh blueberries, while the bottom layer introduces a modern touch with a hexagon shape and geometric details. $725/cake.
This extra-tall three-tier vanilla bean cake from Lake Oswego’s Too Sweet Cakes features marionberry- raspberry compote, vanilla cream-cheese buttercream filling and fresh raspberries. Wilsonville’s Lux Sucre Desserts covered this cake’s exterior with soft shades of pink, peach and yellow Italian buttercream, adding details of brightened apple slices and edible, gold-covered Rainier cherries. Coconut “moss” and fresh florals bring the final look to life. $8.50/slice.
A terrazzo texture and a palette of oatmeal, orange and blush come together in a five-tier masterpiece reminiscent of the Mediterranean. Created by Bend’s Foxtail Bakeshop, the cake is finished with punchy persimmons, custom rose gold honeycomb and delicate greenery. $15/slice.
