Elizabeth Worlein and Chris Schnaidt had thoughts of something borrowed and making old things new when planning their elegant and romantic Portland wedding. The two paid homage to their shared heritage by incorporating German elements into their reception, such as a Nuremberg bridal cup and a wedding beer stein. The pair also made gebrannte mandeln, or candied almonds, which they bundled in blue and white German bags and offered to guests as favors. “Chris even wore German Shepherd socks to remind us of our own German Shepherd at home, Elsa,” Elizabeth says.

Elizabeth wanted to create an atmosphere that was at once luxe and lush and minimal and classic. White floral arrangements by Geranium Lake Flowers contrasted beautifully with the deep blue walls of the reception space at Sentinel. While Elizabeth focused on the decor, Chris was more concerned with throwing a good dance party, where guests would enjoy celebrated Oregon wines and beers. Together, the couple’s ideas for the reception combined into an elegant and joyous celebration with friends and family.
