Oregon Bride Fall/Winter 2021

A showstopping orange-sherbet Milla London dress served as the launching point for this out-of-the-box design by Amore Coordination. With its use of elegant swaths of gentle orange and pops of bright blues, the team proved that avant-garde and traditional sensibilities don’t have to be mutually exclusive. “How will weddings be celebrated in the years to come?” the team at Amore asked itself. The answer was with luxe florals, eye-catching cuisine and an unexpected color palette—and all on a small scale in a stunning location. Nestled in the heart of Oregon’s wine country, Abbey Road Farm’s bucolic landscape provided a peaceful backdrop to the intimate affair. To tie the design together, the team incorporated shades of orange into the food itself. With its coral watercolor finish, the cake, by Michelle of Tres Belle Desserts, lent a modern touch as well as acted as a visual complement to the rest of the menu, which included smoked salmon on rye and Italian peach cookies. Songbird Floristry created a pillar of greenery that sat behind the king’s table and subtly tied into the overall design vision with grapefruits intermingled throughout the sweet and elegant installment.

FOR A MOD TAKE ON AN ORANGE PALETTE, Cindy of Peachy Keen Coordination kept bright colors and unexpected twists at the fore. “You can skip tradition now more than ever—in fact, people celebrate that!” Cindy says. A dusty orange 1970s Volkswagen van, courtesy of The FotoBus Co., did double duty as both photo booth and ceremony arbor. As the bride and groom enjoyed a mini photoshoot, flowers by Wildflower Portland in hues of orange, rust and white traced their way up the side of the van. Bee’s Custom Cakes created a striking Tiffany blue three-tier masterpiece—which has been sliced in half vertically—with edible flowers of gold, orange and white wallpapering the exposed center. Suspended above the dining table, a colorful floral installation drew the eye upward and out to the rolling hills of Abbey Road Farm. The blush-colored tabletop featured “Saturday market” paper-wrapped bouquets that guests could take home. For a finishing touch, Cindy put together a bohemian twist on a drive-in movie with Moroccan poufs and cozy mismatched blankets scattered on the lawn among low rattan chairs.
