Though they’re an oft-overlooked detail, escort card displays aren’t just a way to guide guests to their reception tables; they’re also a great way to create a focal point that wows guests as they first enter the reception space. “Escort card displays can set the tone for the reception, incorporating the wedding’s aesthetic and even serving as an interactive space that could double as a photo booth or cake backdrop later in the evening,” says planner Nora Sheils of Bridal Bliss in Lake Oswego. In a celebration that reflected their love of travel, Julie Underriner and Shawn Kelly, who were married at the Oregon Garden Resort, opted for an escort card wall that featured mock plane tickets that directed guests to their tables. Shannon Brophy and Charlie Watson mirrored the custom arrow graphic that appeared on their wedding invitations in a greenery installation on their escort wall. It made for a beautiful and captivating presentation at their reception, held at Leftbank Annex in North Portland. Escort card displays don’t have to be elaborate to make a big impact, however. Displays as simple as cards nestled in a bed of flowers or perched atop champagne glasses are a festive and charming touch that signals to guests that the fun is about to start.
