Oregon Bride Fall/Winter 2023

After falling in love during the COVID-19 pandemic, longtime friends Calisa Reis and Matthew Welch returned to their hometown of Lake Oswego to tie the knot. The couple chose to exchange vows at Matthew’s childhood church, Our Lady of the Lake, where his father served as a deacon. Both families were closely involved in the ceremony, with readings from the bride’s and groom’s parents, as well as a beautiful rendition of “Ave Maria” performed by Matthew’s cousin. After the ceremony, the newlyweds and their guests headed to Ironlight to celebrate, a great choice because of its stunning views of the lake and mountains, as well as its close proximity to the church. The couple, who had grown closer through their shared love of exploring Oregon on road trips and camping adventures, envisioned a design that reflected the beauty of the autumn season. “We appreciated working with vendors that understood our goals and appreciated Oregon’s fall beauty to create flower arrangements, décor and a seasonal menu that captured what fall in Oregon means to us,” Calisa and Matthew explained. To create this warm and inviting atmosphere, the reception space was filled with rich, earthy browns, reds and oranges. Calisa and Matthew also named the tables for their favorite destinations, discovered while falling for each other, as a reminder of their journey to true love.
